\nThe wall lamp, designed by Ignazio Gardella, is a key piece in the designer’s oeuvre, embodying his distinctive approach to furniture design. Produced by Azucena, the Italian furniture and design brand co-founded by Gardella together with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua in 1947, the pendant lamp exemplifies the brand’s commitment to elegant, functional, and rationalist design. The glass sphere can be adjusted by moving it closer to or further away from the wall. The brass stem has a desirable patina, which has formed over time.
\nIgnazio Gardella (Milan, 1905 \u2013 Oleggio, 1999) was one of the leading figures in 20th-century Italian architecture.
\nHe graduated first in Civil Engineering and then in Architecture from the Milan Polytechnic. Even before the war, he had carried out a series of works for the upper middle class of Piedmont and Lombardy, clients whom he was able to interpret in many important projects during the Reconstruction period when he was at the forefront of proposing a new idea of architecture.
\nIn 1947, he founded Azucena with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua. Until the 1990s, Gardella continued to produce and design furniture and accessories, including for other companies, as well as pursuing his extraordinary career as an internationally renowned architect in public and private works.<\/p>\n
